Grade:  Sophomore.

Parents:  Sydrick and Juliette Woody.

Position:  Linebacker.

Recent accolades:  Woody was named MVP among linebackers at local, regional, and national Ultimate 100 combines.  He was one of 500 players selected to attend the national event in Oklahoma.

Proud parents:  “His hard work has definitely paid off,” Sydrick Woody said.  “Being where we were with kids from all over the country, it was great that a little kid from Springville, Ala., was named MVP.  It was pretty impressive.  We’re very proud of what he’s accomplished.”

Coach Maple’s comments:  “We’re very proud of Deondre.  He’s evidently showing out, and any publicity he gets will prove very positive down the road, for him and our program here at Springville.  He’s a good kid, and I’m glad we’ve got him for three more years here.  He’s going to develop into a great football player.”

Deondre’s hopes for this season:  “Hopefully we’ll have a winning season and not only make it into the playoffs but make it far into the playoffs.”

After high school:  He already has his sights set on playing college football, naming Alabama as his preference.  “Maybe Auburn or Ole Miss.  Pretty much anywhere in the SEC.”
