- Classical ballet was one of six styles of dance students learned during Starrz Performing Arts Center’s recent summer camp.
STARRZ Performing Arts Centre hosted its first “Burning Up The Dance Floor” summer week-long camp earlier this month.
The students, ages 4 to 20, were taught by some of the most creative and well-known choreographers/instructors in the industry in six styles of dance: classical Ballet, hip hop, tap, lyrical, modern, and jazz. Each instructor taught a dance in which the students learned throughout the week.
On Friday, June 15, the students performed a Parent Showcase, in which they were able to impressively entertain a group of about 30 parents with material they had learned in just five days. Campers were provided with a “Burning Up The Dance Floor” t-shirt, and each student used their creativity to cut, tie, rip, strip, and knot their T-shirt to form a cool and fashionable costume.
STARRZ is currently taking Fall Registration. Waiting lists are common in all dance, tumbling and vocal fall classes, which begin Aug. 8. For more information, call 205-338-1725.
