I-20 to experience evening delays next week

Drivers on I-20 may experience traffic delays next week as rolling roadblocks and lane closures accommodate progress on the interstate widening project.
Between 8:30 p.m. and 6 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, weather permitting, the inside eastbound lane of I-20 will be closed between mile markers 151 and 153 to pour the Cook Springs Bridge deck.
Rolling roadblocks will take place Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7 to 7:20 p.m. in the eastbound lanes and 7 to 7:10 p.m. in the westbound lanes to accommodate blasting. On-ramps at Exit 152 eastbound and Exit 156 westbound will be closed during the rolling roadblocks.
A reduced speed limit of 45 mph is in effect throughout the work zone.
The work is part of ALDOT’s Progress 20 project to widen the last four-lane segment of I-20 in St. Clair County. The scheduled completion date is Oct. 1, 2012.
