After graduation: She will attend the University of Alabama to major in English with a concentration in pre-law. She’s been accepted into the Honors College, placing her among the top percent of incoming students who are placed in smaller, more exclusive advanced academic classes and focus on service in the community. She’s also earned a spot in the Million Dollar Band.
Activities at SCCHS: Alexis served as drum major of the marching band for two years and played saxophone in the concert band. She was a member of the Beta Club and served as a judge and officer for the Junior United Nations Assembly.
One of her favorite high school memories: “My first time leading my band onto the football field for competition. It was very overwhelming, but knowing I was at the head of all that was a very good feeling.”
The greatest challenge facing high school graduates: “All the decision that have to be made, like what college to attend and what classes to take. Knowing that they will affect your future, the pressure is quite intense.”
About the Class of 2011: “We do have our own opinions. There are people my age who do have an understanding of what is going on in our country and our state. Our opinions do matter.”
