Vincent McNeeley / Moody High School

Parents:  Kim and Jerry McNeeley.

GPA:  3.92.  “Hopefully it’ll be 4.0 by the end of the semester.”

After graduation:  He’s been accepted at Auburn University, where he plans to study international business and business management and administration.  “I’ve always been interested in business.  I became an entrepreneur at age 11 when I started a concessions stand at the ballpark.  I’ve always liked the idea of running my own business.”

Activities at MHS:  “Relay for Life is the biggest thing I do.  I really enjoy it.”  He spent more than 300 hours last year working as the project’s online chairman.  He has also been involved with the Leadership Experience Organization (a student-led group sponsored by the Moody Lion’s Club), served as prose editor and online editor for “Between the Lines” (the school’s literary magazine), worked with the Art Club, and founded the broadcasting program MHS TV.

The greatest challenge facing high school seniors:  “Not knowing what do after graduation.  Choosing a college and deciding what field to go into is the most difficult thing we’ve ever done.  I’ve narrowed mine down to business, but because I enjoy doing so many different things, I’m still not sure.”

How established business and community leaders should regard today’s young people: “I’d like for them to see that we have good ideas and that we should be respected.  We can contribute to the community.  It can be frustrating when adults don’t look at us the same way they look at their peers.”
