Area law enforcemnt agencies are on the lookout for a suspect who stole a police car during an altercation Thursday.

Thursday an officer down was reported on the police scanner. As of 11:27 a.m., the officer was transported to UAB Hospital in Birmingham.

The suspect in question is a black male wearing a white T-shirt and driving a red Ford Thunderbird. He is believed to be armed with a 40 caliber Glock stolen from the police officer’s vehicle. Anyone who sees the suspect is urged to call 911 and not confront the man.

As of Friday morning the suspect was still not apprehended.
