Christmas chess tournament at new Margaret Elementary

- Young chess enthusiasts prepare for the upcoming Holiday Chess Tournament.
Margaret Elementary School will host the Country Knights’ Holiday Chess Tournament on Saturday, Dec. 11.

Registration will begin at 8 a.m., followed by a mandatory players’ meeting at 10 a.m. The first round will begin at 10:15, with subsequent rounds starting at 11:30 a.m. and 1:15, 2:30, and 3:45 p.m.
Players will compete in the following divisions: 5 Round Swiss G/30, USCF Rated and Unrated sections, Primary (K-3), Elementary (K-6), Junior High (K-9), and Open (K-12). Early entry fees are $10 for unrated players and $15 for rated players. On-site registration fees are $20 (unrated) and $25 (rated).
Early registration forms are available at local schools and must be postmarked by Dec. 5 and mailed to Country Knights Chess Club, 13260 U.S. Highway 411, Suite 200, Odenville, AL, 35120. Checks should be made payable to Country Knights Chess Club.
