Lane closure on I-20 Monday evening

Published 6:46 am Sunday, November 7, 2010

Work continues on Interstate 20 as part of the Alabama Department of Transportation’s project to widen the last four-lane segment of the roadway in St. Clair County.

Weather permitting, beginning around 7 p.m., Monday, Nov. 8, the westbound inside lane between mile markers 148 and 149 will be closed to clean out median drains.

A reduced speed limit of 45 mph is in effect throughout the work zone. Motorists may want to consider using alternate routes and adjusting arrival/departure times. Motorists should observe work-zone speed limits and other work-zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area. State troopers will control traffic and strictly enforce speed limits.

This work is part of the ALDOT’s Progress 20 project to widen the last four-lane segment of I-20 in St. Clair County. The scheduled completion date on the project is by Oct. 1, 2012.

The Progress 20 Web site and toll-free project update information line, along with posters, brochures and signage, is part of the Alabama Department of Transportation’s Progress on Alabama Roadways campaign to keep travelers informed of the progress being made to improve the state’s interstates. Additional ongoing projects include Progress 59 in Etowah County and Progress 65 in Montgomery.
