While discussing the Alabama Auto Auction coming to town and wrecker contractors, the Moody City Council passed around the idea of creating a car holding yard for the city. They said this yard could raise a good amount of money for the city.

“If we have our own yard,” Lee said, ‘it adds a whole ‘nother ball of wax to it.”

The council also talked about replacing city equipment, and they approved the purchase of two refurbished ZOLL cardiac monitors.

The monitors will cost $22,600.50 and will arrive seven to 10 days after the downpayment is made. The monitors the city currently uses have lasted about eight years and need to be replaced.

“It’s our job to make sure they have the equipment they need to do their job,” Mayor Joe Lee said.

The council also approved:

* $550 for psychological testing for the new police officers;

* $296.28 for custom sleeve patches for the police department;

* accepting Hollis Paving’s low bid on Blue Ridge for $19,960;

* retaining Barfield Murphy Shank and Smith to do the annual audit for 2009-10;

* $16,345.53 for a contract with the juvenile delinquent detention facilities.
