- County Commissioners Paul Manning, Jeff Brown, Jimmy Roberts and Ken Crowe.
During past years, the St. Clair County Commission made money from their equipment rotation, and they continue to make this deal cost-efficient.
On June 22, the St. Clair County Commission approved sending a letter of commitment to Thompson Tractor for the 2010-2011 budget year equipment rotation. The county used three pieces of equipment during the past three years, paying an average of $25,000 per piece a year with no maintenance.
“The county saves money by doing this,” Paul Manning said. “We share the government and try to do right and represent the people.”
They also approved requiring a mobile home installation certificate for floodplain areas. The homeowner and the mobile home installer must certify that the home has been installed according to ordinances, which will absolve the county of liability.
“This is not something the commission is pushing,” Manning said. “It’s a law that has to be answered.”
As the Ashville Courthouse is nearing completion, the commission approved Change Order No. 6 for $10,407, which will go toward the material on the balcony, an extra sprinkler head, window trim in the courtroom and a gas line to the generator.
“The Ashville Courthouse is looking more attractive each day,” Manning said. “Everyone’s going to be proud of it—at least the tax payers should be.”
