Hello, Pell City! Lakeside Hospice and the Christian Love Pantry held their first annual fundraiser this past Saturday at Beacon Hall at the First United Methodist Church.

The event, called “Love Feeds the Soul”, was held to raise funds for the two local charities whose missions are to help the sick, and feed the hungry.

Part of the event included having attendees vote on their favorite tablescape; with over thirty beautifully and uniquely decorated tables it was very difficult to choose the winners!

There was also a Tasters Luncheon served by the youth of local churches with food provided by many local restaurants and caterers.

A craft fair featuring many local businesses was also there to enjoy, along with entertainment provided by actress and storyteller, Delores Hydock.

The fundraiser was a huge success, and everyone had a delightful time.

Just a few of the folks from Pell City that I enjoyed seeing or speaking with at the event were Deanna Lawley, Karen Sawyer, Jill Rutledge, Curtis and DeAnna Capps, Mayor Bill Hereford, Deena Thomas, Martha Richey, Christine Smith, Beth Green, Bill and Susan Britt, Donald Gover, David and Nicole Sparks, Wallace Wyatt, Jamie Crump Mclean, Nettie Bean, Wallace Bromberg, Frances Channell, Ponda Bowman, Helen Trammell, and Mark Harris. Happy Birthday this week to Sylvia Truitt, Brooke Chase, Selina Wright, Charlie Larson, Neil Bell, Brenda Wilson, Jackson Kerr, Gary Souris, Carl Webber, Ricardo Lowery, Shyla Roberts, Randall Marrs, and A. Xavier “X-man” Stocks. Happy Anniversary to Heather and Scotty Turpin, and James and Shirley Mann.

If you are looking for a fun activity to enjoy with your children next weekend, then head over to the Pell City Center on Saturday, March 13, at 2:00 pm for the musical adaptation of the Wizard of Oz.

Presented by Theatre-In-Motion, it is the touring division of Birmingham Children’s Theatre, which is one of the oldest and largest children’s theatres in the country! Fun for both the young and young at heart, contact the PCC at 338-1947 to reserve your tickets, which are only $10 and are sure to go fast, or buy online at www.pellcitycenter.com.
