The St. Clair Saints (5-3, 4-3) will have a make-or-break matchup Friday. If they beat Oneonta, they’ll get into the playoffs.

The Saints will have the home field in Friday’s crucial game.

“We need a big win Friday night,” coach Charlie Boren said. He and his staff have been prepping their guys to return to the field in high spirits and ready to take the fight to the Red Skins.

The Saints bested Jacksonville 32-15 to secure another key Region 6 win.

The team of Tarez Goldsby and Sequoah Humes gave Jacksonville the one-two punch for most of the game with Damian Lee bringing the veritable uppercut by keeping drives alive with key catches.

“That was a big win in that situation,” Boren said. “We probably played our best and most complete game since this time last year. I think we did a real good job on defense by stopping the high-powered offense they had. They had an awfully good offense. Our offensive played what I would call one of the most complete games we’ve had in a while. We ran the ball and were able to throw the ball well.”

Goldsby rushed for 146 yards on 10 carries, including a 53-yard touchdown run. He completed nine of 15 passes for 131 yards with an interception. Humes had three TD runs in first half. His 20 rushes yielded 164 yards. Dee Franklin had 52 yards on four receptions and a TD and Damian Lee had five receptions for 87 yards.

“The catches Damian made were huge because they were possessive-type catches that kept the drives going,” Boren noted. “He was really impressive. He’s played basketball before, but for it to be his first year in football, if he keeps going the way he’s going, he’ll be a college prospect come next year.”

On the defensive side of the ball, Justin Tressillian had an impressive 15 tackles. Chris Rosenaur had 12 and Jacob Garrison had 11.
