In their third game of the season, The Ragland Purple Devils boys’ varsity basketball team played the Pleasant Valley Raiders in a rigorous 66-59 game ending in Pleasant Valley’s favor. Ragland’s head coach Andy Eden said, “I was proud of our efforts in the second half to cut into the lead. Overall, we played hard. However, we did not shoot well, and had too many turnovers to ever have a chance of winning. But if we continue to work hard, we’ll have a chance to be a great basketball team.”

Despite their inevitable loss, the team made a substantial effort at a comeback. The Purple Devils went from 23 points before half time to 44 points in the third period. High scorers in the game were Jameil Brock, bringing in 19 points, eight rebounds and three steals and J.T. Caldwell, who followed closely behind with nine points, five rebounds and three steals. Nick Kay also scored high with nine points, two rebounds and two steals. Their record is now 2-1.
