Grandma stops home invasion in WV

PUTNAM COUNTY, WV (RNN) – A woman woke to the sound of an invader trying to pry open her bedroom window on Christmas Eve.

Yvonda Gatens and her late husband built their home in Putnam County 40 years ago, according to WSAZ.

After Gatens heard the noise at her window, she called 911 and grabbed her gun.

“You’re going to die,” Gatens said to the invader, who immediately fell over to the side of the window.

Putnam County authorities responded to Gatens’ call, but were unable to find the suspect.

Gatens said she is relieved everything ended up OK, but feels that she has lost a sense of security. She has been encouraging her neighbors to keep an eye out for anything suspicious.

“If you come in here, it’s going to be you or me, and I’ll see to it that it won’t be me!” she said.
