Local companies recognized for 2015 economic growth

On March 3, representatives from local German-owned companies gathered together at the AlabamaGermany Partnership’s (AGP) 18th Annual Celebration Dinner at Regions Field to celebrate new announcements and expansions among their members. The St. Clair County Economic Development Council has remained close to the AGP since the recruitment of Eissmann Group Automotive and WKW Erbsloeh North America, LLC, and has had multiple opportunities to celebrate with these fast-growing manufacturers located in the Cogswell Industrial Park in Pell City Alabama.

This year, both Eissmann and WKW were recognized for their 2015 expansions. Eissmann Automotive Group, currently St. Clair County’s largest manufacturing employer, invested another $3.1 Million in their Pell City facility and added 80 new jobs. WKW Erbsloeh North America, LLC invested $4.9 Million and added three new jobs.

The St. Clair County Economic Development Council was created in 1998 with the help of the St. Clair County Commission and the St. Clair County Industrial Development Board. Their goals are to create jobs, increase the tax base and increase the quality of life for the citizens in St. Clair County. Established in 1818, St. Clair County is located at the end of the Appalachian Mountain range, in north-central Alabama. With a population of more than 86,000, St. Clair County is one of the fastest-growing counties in the state and is considered a part of the Birmingham-Hoover metropolitan statistical area, the largest in the state.
