Our heroes, our veterans

Visit Leeds Veteran’s Memorial

As of October 2015, 864 veterans are named on the stones at the Leeds Veteran’s Memorial Park monument. This includes 41 killed-in-action, 21 Purple Heart recipients and 14 prisoners of war.

The park was established as a memorial to veterans from the Leeds area, from all branches of the military. This includes veterans from all wars, including those that were killed or missing in action. Leeds is known to have the most highly decorated war heroes per capita of any city in America.

Five civic clubs and the Leeds Tree Commission maintain the gardens and monuments. More than 22 other civic clubs work on various projects to improve the park. The memorial did not receive any federal, state, or city government help in the building of the memorial. The Park is located at 1159 Montevallo Road in Leeds.
