High school anglers Davis, Goodwin earn spot in State Championship
Two Odenville anglers placed in the top-10 of a recent national fishing tournament and in doing so secured their spot to compete for a state title.
Out of 162 two-man boats, Odenville Bass Club members Raymond Davis II and Tyler Goodwin took ninth place in the 2016 Alabama B.A.S.S. National High School Tournament Trail, held Dec. 5 at Lake Martin. With the placement the pair, under boat captain Jackie Keller of Odenville, qualified for the first round of the B.A.S.S. State Championship Tournament in June 2016 at Lake Wheeler.
Also during the High School Tournament Trail, Odenville Bass Club (OBC) Teams of Jacob George and Nick Savage and Shelton Barrett and Ethan Reed qualified to attend the State Championship.
OBC members Aaron George, Dylan Allen, Seth Howard, Cody Meeler, Lauren Savage and Evan Goodwin will have another opportunity to qualify for the State Championship in February as the teams competes in the Trail Tournament at Lay Lake.
“We are proud of these anglers, as their dedication has paid off,” OBC released in a statement. “ All of this wouldn’t be possible without our boat captains, coaches and sponsors.”
