What’s Up in Odenville

I love our little town. I especially love the holidays when the Christmas light display at Calvary Baptist Church is lit up in all its glory, when our light posts have the lighted wreaths and snowflakes hung up by the City, the reindeer and sleigh is in the park, the stores have their windows adorned with decorations and lights. It’s magical and it always gives me such a sense of peace and fulfillment.

And then there’s MY house. It’s absolute chaos; decorations half up with some Fall stuff still in the mix, house an absolute mess, dogs running around yapping and getting under our feet, and haven’t bought the first gift for anybody. I live in a Hallmark movie in my head but in reality, we are just one more crazy event away from it being a Griswold Christmas. That’s life with the Mashburn’s.

Let’s get to the news.

The Saint Clair County High School Band will host Pictures with Santa next Saturday December 15 from 4-7 p.m. and Family Movie Night at 7 p.m. Both events will be held at the High School. All funds raised will go to benefit the band for uniforms and new instruments.

The City of Odenville hosted their Annual Christmas Parade this past Tuesday. This year is considered one of the largest ever with over 90 entries! Thanks to everyone that participated to make it successful. Our little town is so amazing!

The Greater Odenville Chamber of Commerce hosted their Christmas luncheon this past Monday to a packed house. Everyone enjoyed Christmas carols with Lyman on piano, then a pot luck lunch provided by the Board of Directors and Executive Board. Admission was waved and in lieu a toy for the Cops for Tots program was accepted. Dona Bonnet did the honors of presenting the collection of toys and monetary funds to Police Chief Adam Pardue. It was announced that Board member Dona Bonnet and VP Trese Mashburn will roll off at the end of December with vacancies to be filled in January. The Chamber meeting will also have a new home. Due to the rapid growth of Chamber attendance, meetings will be moved to the Christ Church – Branch Cove in Odenville. Meetings will continue be held at 11:30 a.m. on the first Monday of each month.

The Margaret Lions Club is looking for volunteers. Everyone is welcome to all meetings and events. Meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Margaret Mexican Restaurant, next to Dollar General in Margaret. For more information email pmpino44@yahoo.com.
