Week 2: Ragland Purple Devils vs. Wadley

Gaston 28, Ragland 0

Ragland ran right into the jaws of a relentless Gaston Bulldogs team, turning the ball over early and never managing to get traction against Gaston, who blanked the Purple Devils 28-0 last Friday.

The Bulldogs’ D.J. Pope ran for 133 yards and scored one of four Gaston rushing touchdowns. Pope was spelled by running back Jashun Cammeron, who scored two rushing touchdowns and ran for 72 total yards as the Bulldogs running attack took control of the entire game and never let go.

Week 2 Preview: Ragland vs. Wadley

For the second week in a row the Purple Devils will have to take on a strong running attack. The Bulldogs are bringing senior Kamaury Avery to Ragland this Friday, who has been a super tailback, gaining over 1,000 yards on the ground in each of his previous three seasons.

The key to victory this week for Ragland is controlling the line of scrimmage. On both sides of the ball Wadley is small and lacks depth. If Ragland’s big boys can control the line, they will control this game.
