Leeds to host County Crossover event

Three teams from St. Clair County have qualified to advance to the finals of the County Crossover 3-On-3 Basketball Tournament.  The local preliminary tournament was held earlier this month in Moody.

The Flaming Torpedoes team, comprised of Jacob Bearden, Peyton Aldridge, and Jonathan Hennessy, finished first in the 14-18-age division, and the Ramrod team of Kevin Patterson, Keith Jackson, and Brandon Becker won the 19-25-age division.

The City Slickas (Justin Bruce, Nic Garrett, Aaron Garrett, and Brandon Gray) came in second in that division.

The Bandits came in first in the 35-and-up division.  The team includes Scott Swisher, Eric Vowell, and James Madison.

Patterson won the tournament’s Three-point Shootout Contest, qualifying to compete for a $1,000 prize at the final tournament.  St. Clair players will face off against teams from Calhoun, Walker, Shelby, Tuscaloosa, and Jefferson counties in the finals in August.

Leeds Middle School is scheduled to host the Jefferson County tournament on Saturday, July 24.  For more information about the tournament schedule, visit www.countycrossover.com.
