7th Annual Lyla Ride gathering marbles for charity

The F.A.I.T.H. Riders Motorcycle Ministry of Cedar Grove Baptist Church will be hosting an annual motorcycle ride to benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama on April 21.

The 7th Annual Lyla Ride is a marble run, which requires the gathering up marbles at different locations in Shelby, St. Clair and Talladega counties. The marbles all have a point value and also have a meaning in evangelism.

Registration will begin at 7 a.m. at Cedar Grove Baptist Church, located at 2001 Cedar Grove Road, Leeds, AL 35094. Fees are $25 per rider or $30 for a rider and passenger. Lunch will be provided for all participants and there will also be door prizes.

This annual ride began in April 2012 with a very sick little girl, Lyla Koenig, the granddaughter of Cedar Grove’s pastor. The first year of her life was very tough for her and the family because she was in and out of hospitals all over the U.S. seeking treatment and staying in Ronald McDonald Houses. The F.A.I.T.H. Riders of Cedar Grove wanted to help the family by doing a motorcycle ride to raise monies for some of their expenses and the first ride was called The Ride For Lyla, with all proceeds going to the family.

Lyla began to get better and the F.A.I.T.H. Riders of Cedar Grove wanted to continue with the benefit ride, renaming it the Annual Lyla Ride with all the proceeds being contributed to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama. Little Lyla is now a bouncy, bubbly, 7-year-old girl full of life. Cedar Grove Baptist want to help other families through the Ronald McDonald House get through a storm in their life.

The motto of the F.A.I.T.H Riders is “NO ONE LEFT BEHIND” 2 Peter 3:9
