What’s up in Odenville
Hello readers! I’m back with this week’s edition of What’s Up in Odenville.
My, oh my, what an interesting week in college football — specifically SEC football. My Tigers looked like a Pee Wee football team on the field and promptly slid backwards in the polls. I don’t know if my heart is going to be able to take this football season. We have LSU this weekend and I may not even watch. Ok, I will watch, but it will be with my hands covering my face as I peek out every few minutes.
Let’s get to the news:
Want to help out with Meet Me In the Park?
Donations are requested in the form of a dunking booth, bounce houses and bounce slide for the Meet Me in the Park event that will be held Saturday, Nov. 7. All money raised will go towards medical and other expenses for 11-year-old Payton Ray, who will be having a bone marrow transplant. Call Jenny Wilkins (205) 903-7255.
Girl Scout troop 1232 meets at Destiny Life Church on Hwy 411 Monday 6-7:30 p.m. The group consists of Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes, and Seniors.
John Alvis graduated boot camp from the US Army 701st E Company Military Police Bat. On Monday Sept 14. John is the son of Jeff and Christy Alvis of Odenville. Congratulations and thank you for your dedication and service.
Congratulations to Lynn Brasher and Jessica Moore on the birth of their baby girl, Breelyn Leigh Brasher, weighing 7lbs and 7oz. Friends and family are already fighting over who gets to babysit first.
Are you ready for some Saints home football?
This past week, the Saints were on the road at Springville and came away with another “W”! The final score was 45-7. This Friday, the Saints are hosting Mortimer Jordan. Next week, Sept. 25, the Saints will host Southside for Homecoming. GO SAINTS!
Queen Bees (Odenville 8u fall ball) won their first game of the season Sunday against Moody 6-4. Way to go, ladies!
Anniversary Club
Jeff and LouAnn Forman celebrated 37 years of wedded bliss and Glen and Tammy Peoples celebrated 10 Sept. 15. Also, Leroy & Sadie Mize will celebrate 57 years on Saturday, Sept. 19. Their son Dan and his wife Christy were also married on their 50 anniversary, because Dan felt that day had given his parents 50 years so maybe it would give he and his wife the same. Unfortunately Dan passed away unexpectedly in December. So bittersweet.
Welcoming Carson
Cason Marx Reilly made his debut Friday Sept. 11 to proud parents Joanne and Mackie Reilly. Cason has been nicknamed ‘Hotstepper’ by his Aunt Jenny and Uncle Matt!
He was born at 2:06 p.m. weighing 8lbs and is 21” long! Congratulations!
