Gov. Bentley establishes commission to help veterans
On Tuesday Gov. Bentley signed an executive order that established a commission to study ways to improve services for those returning from military deployments, veterans and their families.
A news release from the governor’s office says that the services are critical because of the long-lasting challenges veterans can face, including physical and psychological disabilities.
The signing ceremony was held at 10:30 a.m. in the Old House Chamber of the State Capitol.
Local Pell City resident and veteran, Greg Jacobik who was present when Gov. Bentley signed the order, has played an instrumental role in rasing awareness for veterans and establishing programs to aid veterans throughout St. Clair Conty and the state of Alabama.
