North St. Clair Relay growing

Jaime Duggan, event chair for North St. Clair Relay for Life, said the 2012 North St. Clair event at Springville High School last weekend had a great turnout.

“We had a lot of new teams this year and for first time teams they did a great job decorating and it went really well,” Duggan said.

The event saw 17 people stay overnight out of 14 teams this year.

“For us to have such a large territory, it’s growing,” Duggan said. People from Steele, Ashville, and Springville participated and Odenville sponsors were represented as well.

The group covers all of St. Clair County except Pell City, Leeds/ Moody areas, both of which have their own Relay groups. A goal of the North St. Clair Relay group is to get the word out that it’s all areas in St. Clair besides those mentioned.

There was $3,500 raised on the night of the Relay, alone. Out of the $30,000 goal, the group raised over $20,000. Before August 1, the group hopes to make up the remainder of that goal,

To donate and help the group reach their final 2012 goal, you may call Duggan at 205-368-0094 or contact them through Facebook.
