Jacobik seeks Pell City’s District 4 council post
Greg Jacobik will run for Pell City Council District 4 seat in the Aug. 28 municipal election.
“I am running for Pell City Council District 4 to be an energetic force in the city and a partner with all community stakeholders,” Jacobik said.
A father to five kids, Pell City High School graduate and retired veteran of the United States Air Force, Jacobik has served his community and country in multiple capacities.
Past experience has given Jacobik the opportunity to take on many leadership roles to help serve military veterans and their families. He served as the former director of the Individual and Family Support Policy for the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Reserve Affairs, and he served as the Senior Adviser DoD for the Presidential Interagency Policy Committee on Military Families. Jacobik has worked as the Senior Adviser to the Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff on Military Families.
Other public service includes working with the American Legion, DAV and AMVETS.
Within the last year, Jacobik has worked with local government and community leaders to raise awareness about the needs of military veterans in St. Clair County and their families. As a result he is now chairman of the board of the nonprofit organization, M.A.P.S., which works to provide assistances to veterans and their families.
“I want to be an administrator, a connector that facilitates a voice of action,” Jacobik said. “My vision is to seek out the current opportunities with creative and unified ideas and put them into action.”
Jacobik plans to focus on developing youth programs, parks and recreation and further economic development.
“People can fix communities. They can’t fix big government,” Jacobik said. “I want to work to inspire good ideas that people have and help unite our common values and passions with fresh ideas.”
