The Walking tours are a statewide event sponsored by the Alabama Board of Tourism and Travel and encompass an impressive list of cities throughout the state. These local tours, Heart of Pell City members said, provide a way to showcase the rich and diverse history of Pell City and to celebrate the pioneers that forged this town and help support those who continue to make Pell City great.

“We hope the local community will be involved and we can bring visitors from across the area that have an interest and appreciate history,” President Beth Hoyle Waggoner said.

The inaugural event will take place Saturday, April 9 beginning at 10 a.m. Those participating in the guided tours will meet at the Pell City Public Library and be led by members of the Pell City Players on an informational tour of Downtown Pell City. Carriage rides, sponsored by the Pell City Chamber of Commerce, will also be available to tour the Historic Residential District. The hour-long tours will continue every Saturday in April starting at 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

This event is being sponsored by the Pell City Chamber of Commerce, the Pell City Public Library, and the Heart of Pell City Downtown Revitalization Committee. For more, follow the Heart of Pell City Downtown Revitalization on Facebook or contact the Chamber at (205) 338-3377.
