Veterans’ events Nov. 8

The Museum of Pell City will celebrate Veterans with an event in their honor Friday, Nov. 8, at 10 a.m.

The event will feature brief addresses from two distinguished veterans: Brigadier General Robert L. Homes from the United States Air Force and Van Posey Sr. from the United States Marines and Army National Guard. St. Clair County Veterans Outreach Administrator, Gregory Bailey will also speak.

Following the presentations, the museum will unveil its expanded Veterans exhibit, along with a new exhibit showcasing local child actor and Veteran, Houston Tumlin. The event will conclude with refreshments provided by Union State Bank. The Museum of Pell City is located at 1000 Bruce Etheredge Pkwy, Suite 200.

Duran Junior High School program

Duran Junior High School’s Student Government Association, under the leadership of Ivy Patterson and Sebrena Wood, will present its Annual Veteran’s Day Program Friday, Nov. 8, at 9:30 a.m.

The program will be a celebration as well as a special time of recognition of all Veterans with celebratory music from Duran Junior High School Choir, led by director, Nate Burch and the Duran Junior High School band, under the direction of band director Sara Freeman.

Students will salute and commemorate all Veterans with poetic patriotism and tributes to freedom. The speaker for this event will be, Dr. Jeffrey Wilson of Pell City. All veterans are invited to attend. The school is located at 25 Williamson Drive in Pell City.
