Hello everyone. It’s news time again, and I hope everyone is well.

Also, special birthday wishes to my friends Shirley and husband Steve Sargent, who both celebrate their birthdays on the same day.

Ann and John Sweatt will celebrate 61 years of marriage on October 20th and Ann will celebrate her birthday on Oct. 13. Congratulations to you both. October is a really special month for the Sweatts.

Congratulations to the PCHS Volleyball Team who were Tournament Champs after beating Springville, Moody, Gardendale, and Shelby County.

Today is the deadline to register for the PCHS Cheer Extravaganza to be held on Sept 30. Contact the high school is you are interested. No late registrations.

Pell City Archery Club is looking for sponsors for the school archery team. Archery is a great sport as well as a great skill. If you or your business would like to sponsor this team, please contact the high school at 205-338-2250. The PCHS team went to state and nationals last year.

Congratulations to the PCHS Homecoming Court 2022: Freshmen include Amelia Alverson, Addyson Smith, Aubrey Tucker, Baylor Fields, Jordon Perry, Karter Perry. Sophomores include: Jules Alexander, Kaylee Johnson, Jenna Lewis, Justyce Ammons, Jachian Dunnaville, Carter White. Juniors include: Matti Black, Feonia Chen, Noelle Poe, Tyt’Shaun Caldwell, Marc Halog, and Cole Vincent. Seniors include: Madison Barnes, Coral Church, Kastiny Helms, Zibby House, Carlo Alverez, Nathan Le, Andrew Phung, Tait Nunnally.

PCHS 2022 Homecoming Dance will be Sept 23 immediately after the game until 11:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the school.

Pell City Animal Control Center is running low on dog food if you are able to donate. You can drop off at the shelter or even just have Amazon send to the shelter. Not picky on brand, just need for adult and puppy food.

The 5th annual Bass Fishing Tournament will be this weekend on Sept. 17 at Pell City Lakeside Park. All kinds of perks when you register, including a chance to win a 7-night stay at Seascape Resort in Miramar Beach, FL. Call 205-966-7272 to pre-register.

Enjoy FREE pancake breakfast and hotdog lunch, Career Opportunity Seminars, Thrilling Warbird Aerial Displays, Walk through the Static Aircraft Display featuring aircraft ranging from antiques to experimental home builds to business jets, Experience a Helicopter Ride in a UH-1 “Huey” and Listen to live music by the Wingnuts.

The 2021 Annual Bulls on the Lake Rodeo is in the bag and the report is it was a roaring success. This was the 4th year for the rodeo and organizers say it was the largest yet with an estimated 2,000 people in attendance. Money raised on this event goes directly to the PCHS FFA program to be used for special event trips, classroom items and scholarships.
