Fourth Friday’s festivities filled the streets of downtown Pell City this past Friday. With scavenger hunts, entertainment, a car show and great food, the event offered a great time for Pell City friends.

Cars filled the parking lot of St. Clair County’s Courthouse at 4th Friday’s car show. Derek Campbell brought his 1956 Chevrolet.

“Me and all my buddies getting together is what I enjoy most,” said Campbell while talking about his love for car shows. Campbell said that the thing he liked most about a car show being held in Pell City is the fact that it is so close to home.

Campbell was definitely not the only one enjoying the rewards of a night of fun close to home. Teresa Springfield, owner of Doodle Bugs Boutique, was excited for the chance to open her store to attendees of Fourth Friday.

“I’m excited that it will help people know what downtown is,” Springfield said. “There are a lot of new stores in the downtown area, and people definitely need to come out just to see what downtown offers.”

Springfield’s store was also part of the night’s scavenger hunt.

Another downtown business owner and store scavenger hunt participant was, Michelle Tumlin, owner of Monkey Bizness.

“I think downtown Pell City is cool. I want everyone else to know it is cool,” said Tumlin.

Tumlin used Fourth Friday as an opportunity to show off some of Monkey Bizness’ latest fashions. Tumlin dressed up human manikins, who were directed to stand perfectly still while modeling.

Tumlin said that she thought that her clothes just looked so much better on real girls than on a manikin with no head. Tumlin also said that she would be participating in future Fourth Fridays as well.

Friday’s entertainment could be heard all down Cogswell Avenue. Entertainers for Friday’s events included local artists: One Eyed Mary, Todd Baker Duo, Pell City Line Dancers, Carson Bruce & Ryan Ollard, Jamison Taylor and Becky Couey & Kelvin Benion. Groups crowded around to watch entertainers perform.

With a variety of options for enjoyment and fun, Pell City’s Fourth Friday was a success. Executive director of Pell City’s Chamber of Commerce, Erica Grieve, said that it was a great start.

“It was so refreshing to see the downtown sidewalks & businesses filled with people,” said Grieve. “We will do it again this month & hopefully it will continue to grow. We really appreciate the support from the community.”
