The Moody Chamber Ambassadors were able to see innovation in action during their tour of the Mercedes plant in Vance.

In a class of their own the Moody Area Chamber of Commerce (MACC) Ambassadors recently visited Alabama’s Mercedes plant in Vance.

Tuscaloosa County is the sole distribution site for the ML-Class, R-Class and BL-Class for Mercedes, which are sold in 135 countries.

Opened in 1997 the Mercedes campus is home to 1,000 acres just off Interstate 59 approximately 25 miles from Tuscaloosa.

Committed to being an environmentally friendly company, Mercedes has a zero percent landfill facility.

Taking only 34 hours to produce a car, the most popular colored Mercedes are black, white and silver.

Embodying a “one team” mentality, the current Alabama Mercedes team has 3,000 employees and is looking to add 1,000 new members.

Since many of the MACC Ambassadors will be graduating, going to college and entering the job market the MACC board booked this tour to educate the Ambassadors of the numerous career options Mercedes offers.

With their own post office, hospital, bank, childcare facility and gym the job possibilities are endless.

Mercedes team members make an average of $18 to $30 per hour and encouraged students to apply for internships to enhance their resumes.

Creating a one-of-a-kind open door policy throughout its offices, Mercedes also crafts luxuriously unique must-drive vehicles that place driver safety first.

In fact, every Mercedes comes complete with its own first aid kit.

Demonstrating innovation, team members are asked to sign the car each time one rolls off the line for the first time.

Several of these cars can be seen in the Mercedes Museum after completing a group tour.

Those involved with producing the first C-Class next year at the Vance, Alabama location will also have this opportunity.

Striving to incorporate quality design, style and efficiency, Mercedes has caught the eye of several sleek starlets and well known names that carry a lot of clout.

Pablo Picasso, Prince Rainier of Monaco, Grace Kelly and Sophia Loren are a handful of legends that love this lot of luxury.

Once a driver, like these world renowned royalties, have connected with this quality vehicle their driveway will not be complete without taking their new friend home.

At the head of the class for the smooth rides down roadways they’ve created since 1886, with the birth of the motorcar, driving a Mercedes means a ride that delivers.
