Leeds Memorial Park Children’s Playground is officially open. The City of Leeds, Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce Board Members and a host of local businesses and families joined Leeds Mayor David Miller as he cut the ribbon in celebration of the grand opening Monday, November 4. Children immediately began having fun on the new playground equipment implements.

“The playground and the park is one of the jewels of the city, gets a lot of use and we really love having it,” Miller said. “Our old playground was ‘long of tooth,’ not ADA compliant, we had shavings and stuff that we had put down. Now, we are state of the art.

“This is as good as it is anywhere and I think the kids are going to love it. Not only do we have new surface for them to bounce on, we’ve got all new facilities as far as the features go and this is going to be a wonderful thing for our city going forward.”

Leeds Memorial Park is located at 1159 Montevallo Road. The park includes a walking tract, pavilion and outdoor fitness center.
