For an older, and let’s face it, portly gentleman, Santa Claus sure gets around.
He will be at all the Christmas tree lightings in St. Clair County. Saturday he will be here in Ashville and Thursday, Dec. 7, he will be in Pell City. He is scheduled to appear at Subway on Dec. 10 from 1 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. bring your cameras and camera phones to take pictures of your kids with Santa at this free event.
Mr. Claus will be bringing Mrs. Claus to Macedonia Church on Dec. 17. This is also a free event beginning at 4:30 p.m. and lasting until 6:30 p.m. There will be delicious food and more. We so rarely see Santa’s better half. She deserves a date night.
But don’t be surprised if you also get a visit from the Grinch. He showed up at Ashville Senior Center online dancing day. According to those who were there, the grumpy green guy has really got some moves.
People are always a little more generous this time of year. We donate our wrapped presents for children to the boxes outside the businesses. Some companies and community groups choose entire families to sponsor. They provide food toys clothing even trees and decorations. This is a joy to those who both give and receive.
However, for those who are truly in need, the need doesn’t cease on Dec. 26.
Many of us also enjoy the bargains we get at a thrift store. If the thrift store is also charitable, it is even more enjoyable. America’s thrift store’s biggest partner is the Make-A-Wish foundation a wonderful organization.
House of Hope thrift store here in Ashville donates locally. They are in desperate needs of coats. Coats of all sizes are welcome, but particularly those of larger sizes from 1X-2X. Private message Albert Daw to learn how and when to give.
Have a great week Ashville. Take lots of pictures. Our children will not stay children long. Preserve these precious memories.
