The Ashville High School volleyball teams’ winning streaks continue. Both the varsity and junior varsity teams took down Ragland. Very impressive, ladies.
Ashville has a new business coming to town. Lala’s will sell beverages, food and books. The owners are still not sure when they will open. But, a new sound system has been installed and a new shipment of books has just arrived.

Some people prefer to download what they read. But books don’t require charging. Books don’t crash. Buy a book and the cyber powers that be won’t continually show you advertisements of similar books. Also, one can tell a lot about a person by looking at their bookshelf. Ask to see their browser history and people tend to get a little huffy.
So stop by as soon as you get the chance. Support a local business. and help keep the written word alive!
Sherry Baird and her husband, on the subdivision on Pinedale Road, are responsible for what has become a spectacular Christmas tradition. They hire the Santas by the gift bags and purchase and hang the lights and decorations themselves.
And it’s not just Christmas. They have fireworks on the 4th of July. They have an Easter egg hunt. All of this requires a lot of effort and time. So, of course they have already started their planning for Halloween.
This year will be a carnival theme. Snacks include popcorn cotton candy and snow cones. They will also be handing out Halloween candy to trick or treaters. There will be decorations including 20 more props than there were last year. Sherry is not sure when the festivities will start, but promises to keep us updated.
Ashville will also have many other Halloween celebrations. Information will become available as the date approach. Until then, there will be scary movies on the big screen every Friday and Saturday night on Greensport Road.
Be there and be scared!
