Gov. Kay Ivey announced a $6.8 million grant to be spread across Alabama to aid domestic violence and sexual assault victims. Programs and Organizations who provide assistance to domestic violence and sexual assault victims are the recipients for these funds. Some of the funds have also been allocated for training and resources for local law enforcement and nonprofit agencies. 

“Sadly, domestic violence affects some Alabama families and residents, and they deserve to have access to quick and compassionate services to help them navigate the process of preventing further abuse,” Gov. Ivey said. “I am pleased to support these organizations who help victims as well as assist with investigations.” 

These funds were made available by the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs and the U.S. Department of Justice.  

The Hispanic Interest Coalition of Alabama, which serves St. Clair, Blount, Cullman, DeKalb, Jefferson, Marshall, Shelby and Walker received $92377. The Crisis Center Inc., which serves St. Clair, Blount, Jefferson, and Walker counties, received $496000. The Alabama Coalition Against Rape, a statewide organization, received $223200.
