The Springville Civil Air Patrol, CAP-126, held its annual ALWG (Alabama Wing) Color Guard Academy Graduation Ceremony and Change of Command Ceremony on February 17 at the 208th Chemical Company, Alabama National Guard Armory in Springville, under the direction of CAP-126 Captain Kenneth McIntyre and ALWG Commander Col. J. Brett Lewis.

The cadets worked hard throughout the year for the ceremony that concluded training in aerospace education, leadership training, physical fitness and moral leadership for cadets. Cadets trained in flight simulators, powered and unpowered gliders, search and rescue objectives and summer encampment programs at Fort McClellan in Anniston.

The Alabama Wing Civil Air Patrol (ALWG) is one of 52 wings (50 states, Puerto Rico, and Washington, D.C.) in the Civil Air Patrol (the official United States Air Force Auxiliary).

Springville’s CAP-126 had over 55 students from across the region enrolled this year. Most of those students were recognized in the ALWG (Alabama Wing) Color Guard Academy Graduation Ceremony.

Major Michael McIntyre stated that it had been an honor to work with the cadets and lauded their accomplishments. McIntyre stressed the benefits of the training and experience the cadets receive throughout the year. The cadets participate in events throughout the year with local leaders and programs.

Civil Air Patrol is considered America’s Air Force Auxiliary, building the nation’s finest force of citizen volunteers serving America.
