Local students win in Valentine’s Decorating Contest

Gail Benefield with Ami’s of Pell City has organized a Valentine’s Decorating Contest in area schools for several years.
Students were invited to participate by submitting original decorated Valentine’s cards, projects, or poems. They were judged for Best Overall, Most Creative, Most Unique, Most Beautiful, Best Artwork, and Best Original Poem or Verse.

“The contest promotes poetry/verse writing skills, creativity, handwriting skills, family participation, and self-esteem,” Benefield said.
Eden Elementary, Coosa Valley Elementary, Walter M. Kennedy Elementary, Williams Intermediate School and Pell City High School participated.
Winners at Eden Elementary are Gracyn Enzor and Morgan Tolbert, Overall Winners; Dillan Brasher, Best Verse; Bryson Bowman, Best Sport; Most Unique, Adalyn Gilley and Marlee Gulledge; Most Beautiful, Izzy Smitherman; Most creative Isacc McDonald and Mya; Cutest, Aylin Treptau and Mallie Middlebrooks; Sweetest, Alli Perkins and Rosamary Goulet; Most Comical, Nariah Cole and Annah Sweet; Judges Choice, Jakolby Grayson; Most Colorful, Jakylah Grayson, Kylie Dilgard and Nadia Rice; Best Game, Zac Gray, Parker Everett, Karson Solowes, Ethan Hurst and Rachel Duck; Best Animal, Holland McGaha and Kaitlin Gilley.
Overall winner at Walter M. Kennedy Elementary School is Evan Watson, first grader.

The Heart of Pell City was the sponsor this year. Each student that participated received a Valentine’s treat.
