What’s Up in Odenville

Trese Mashburn.

One week to go before we are all stuffing our faces, lapsing in to food comas and spending much anticipated time with family. For some, it will be the beginning of the Christmas Shopping Season with lots of deals prior to the ACTUAL start of Christmas Shopping Season known to most as Black Friday. Not me. I do not participate in mass hysteria shopping. I cannot deal with crazy shoppers on any given day at Wal-Mart, much less at a mall on Black Friday where there are sales on top of the sales. I would lose my religion with a quickness and that just kind of defeats the whole purpose of the Holidays in my opinion. I’m a Sagittarius and we are not known for our patience. I want to shop and come away with my dignity at the end of the day.

Let’s get to the news.

The Margaret Lions Club is looking for volunteers. Everyone is welcome to all meetings and events. Meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Margaret Mexican Restaurant, next to Dollar General in Margaret. For more information email pmpino44@yahoo.com

Santa Claus will be making an appearance in Odenville on Black Friday!! That’s right – Ole’ Saint Nick will be at Carquest/411 Power Sports on November 23, from 4 -7 p.m.! Hot Chocolate, popcorn and candy canes for everyone!! Come visit the store get your picture with Santa and tell him what you want for Christmas!

The City of Odenville presents A Star Spangled Christmas Tuesday December 4 at 7 p.m.  Parade route will start at Purser Ray Hall onto Alabama Street, to Hwy 411 and return to Purser Ray Hall from Burgess Drive. Float/participation forms are available at City Hall, OPD or the library. Deadline for entries is November 26.
