The Caribe Club and Marina, located off the Lincoln exit on I-20, hosted its 4th Annual CoosaPalooza event as a way to kick off the 2018 football season.

The event began at 12 p.m. and continued until midnight on Aug. 25. Everybody who showed up got in for free. In addition, they offered grilled hot dogs and hamburgers, (beef or chicken) with a small bag of classic Lays on the side, all for the price of $6.

The Caribe Club and Marina is a private club owned by Bobby Smith and his wife. On special events like CoosaPalooza the club will welcome non-members (21 and up) to celebrate with them, especially on the behalf of football.

The Club’s layout is Caribbean theme, an attribute to the Island itself and Bobby’s love for traveling. Whenever Bobby isn’t working at the Caribe, he chooses to vacation with his wife. If you ask them what their favorite activities are on the Caribbean, they will say island hopping. And since the Carribean has over 7000 isles, they hardly ever visit the same place twice.

The Caribe gave away over a $1000 in cash, and also prizes such as:  A Weber Grill, two forty inch Flat screen T.Vs, a 500 watt P.A. system, Yeti coolers and a ton of cozies to hold your cold beer in. Speaking of which,  Corona was served for free from 7-7:30 p.m., courtesy of the Caribe.

During The CoosaPalooza event, people entered  in the corn hole tournament. Every one that participated got a Corona towel.  Also, people played flip-cup, a famous drinking game that requires little skill.

The Caribe offers plenty to do for their members. They have a bar, restaurant, pool, Jacuzzi, artificial sand, beach net, a refurbished dock for boat travelers, and live music. Club members say the Caribe is their home away from home.

The CoosaPalooza was sponsored by Brandon Tate of State Farm,  Lakeside Boat House,  Superior Hyundai, Extreme Printing and Signs, K.O.’s, Corona, AJS Services, Nancy Sells the Lake, and Trident Marine.

The Trident Marine group ran special boat deals for Labor Day week. They’re offering South Bay and Berkshire pontoons, and prices start out at $20k and will come with either a Mercury, Yamaha or Suzuki motor.
