The Pell City Public Library is proud to welcome The Wingnuts in concert  on Wednesday, August 18 at noon for a concert of classic rock favorites.

The library will be Rockin’-N- Rollin’ with hits from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s , and 80’s, so come prepared to have some fun and you might just find yourself singing along!  Great songs, from the Eagles, the Beatles, Roy Orbison, the Turtles, Elvis, and so much more are in store from this talented group of musicians!

Who are the WingNuts?  They are a group of aviation buffs (three are pilots!) who started out in a hangar in Pell City in 2010, performing for what was supposed to be a one-time event.  It was such a success, that the group was asked to play for more and more events.  Ultimately, they decided to formalize the group, and have since entertained with crowd-pleasing, family-friendly performances throughout the Southeast.  They pride themselves in bringing enjoyment to their audience, whether it’s for a small private party or a large corporate gig, young or old!  Since that first concert, some of the members have changed, but the group still maintains its ties to aviation, and its dedication to bring the music from “the greatest era of music the world has ever known.”

The event is planned in connection with the library’s Adult Summer Reading Program, and will serve as the finale to Adult Summer Reading and Programming series.  The music will be the highlight of the event, but guests are encouraged to linger for light refreshments and the camaraderie afterwards.

Readers participating in the reading segment of the Adult Summer Reading series will want to stay for the drawings to take place at the conclusion of the event.  Awesome prizes provided by the generosity of local merchants, the Pell City Library Guild, Writers Anonymous (Poetry-writing group), and private donors will be given away to those lucky enough to have their name drawn from the “hat.” Each entry in the drawing represents a book read by a participating reader in the Adult Summer Reading program during the duration of the 2018 Summer Reading and Programming series. If you have not signed up to participate in the reading segment, it is not too late. Read what you choose and enjoy for a chance to win!

The WingNuts concert on Wednesday, August 15 at noon is free and open to the public, and you are invited!  Be sure to join the fun!
