The Springville Area Chamber of Commerce welcomed several new businesses with ribbon cutting ceremonies on Saturday, May 19. The new businesses are Daylight Donuts, Bam’s Coin Laundry, HBI Hair Salon and the historic Laster’s Sundries Ice Cream.
The Springville High School Lady Tigers Softball Team won the AHSSA Girls 5A Varsity Softball State Championship title for the fourth consecutive year.
The Springville Civil Air Patrol will host an open house on Saturday, June 2 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at 198 Marietta Road for anyone interested in learning more about the organization.
Summer Blast sponsored by First Baptist Church of Springville will be held June 3- 6 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. with free pizza at 5 p.m. at Big Springs Park. The theme is superheroes.
The Springville Senior Center will host breakfast from Jacks on Thursday, May 24 from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. The Library will provide breakfast and will offer sign ups for several Lunch and Learn events this summer at the Springville Public Library.
The Serves You Right Volleyball Fundraiser Tournament benefiting East Central Patriots Volleyball Team will take place on Saturday, June 2 from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Big Springs Park. The Tournament is open to all at a cost of $15 per player.
The Springville Farmers Market is open every weekend at its new location adjacent to Big Springs Park.

The Springville Public Library celebrated the children who read 1000 Books Before Kindergarten on Tuesday, May 15.
Summer Reading Registration begins for the whole family on May 22. This year’s theme is “Libraries Rock.”
The Springville Public Library will host a Homeschool Breakfast Meet & Greet on Friday, June 1 at 9:30 a.m.
June 5 the Library will host 6th Day Creatures Animal Adventures for the Summer Reading Program.
The Springville Preservation Society is now taking reservations for use of the historic “Little House” located adjacent to the Police Department for events or meetings. Rates are $25 for 2 hours, $50 for four hours and $100 per day. Contact Sara Trotter or reservations at 205-467-3000.
The Springville Senior Center offers a Sunrise Walking Group. They meet on Fridays at the bridge at Big Springs Park at 9:30 a.m.
The Springville Senior Center offers Beginner Computer Classes. Classes are every Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the Springville Public Library. All seniors are welcome. Register in the Main Library or call 205-467-2339.

Springville Police Department is presenting a Firearms Safety course, which is open to the public. The course includes 2 hour classroom training and 2 hours actual training on the firing range by two certified NRA instructors. You may sign up by calling Lauri Jones at 205-467-6133. The Springville Civil Air Patrol meets every Tuesday from 6 – 8:30 p.m. at the National Guard Armory. The age requirement is 12-18 years of age and adults may also join as senior members. Cadets learn leadership skills, aerospace, character development, as well as team work and piloting skills.
