Standoff ends with no injuries

Law enforcement officers responding to a reported overdose on Hazelwood Drive on Thursday night faced a potentially deadly situation.
Pell City Police arrived at the scene around 8:38 p.m. and were met by a person who reportedly pointed a firearm at them, according to information from the St. Clair County’s Sheriff’s Department, who assisted at the scene.
After a brief standoff, Dennis Jenkins, a former St. Clair County Sheriff’s Deputy, was arrested and charged with menacing. Police said Jenkins was irate when they arrived at the scene.
He was transported to the St. Clair County Jail. No one was injured during the incident.
