Leeds and Moody area businesses and residents have been busy over the last week donating and collecting supplies for Louisiana flood victims. How this project began was two local business owners in Moody found out there was short fall in supplies going to relief efforts in Louisiana so they purchased two pallets of water and loaded it on the trailer to make up the shortfall. Others saw the need and jumped in on the efforts. The project expanded so much that another local business owner provided a bigger truck and supplies continued to collect with drop-off points at the Leeds Depot, LA Salon and Disaster Restoration. These supplies, including over 800 cases of water, were taken to Boutwell Auditorium in Birmingham bound for Louisiana to those in need. Disaster Restoration will continue to accept items through noon on Friday, August 26, during the hours of 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. and are located at 1915 Courson Court. Items needed: Bottled water, Gatorade, canned goods, feminine hygiene products, cleaning supplies, sunscreen, bug spray, baby products and toiletries (no clothing at this time). With so many people pulling together for this urgent need, there is no way to name them all. It has been such a blessing to see the outpour of generosity among our local communities to help others. Thank you greater Leeds and Moody for reaching out and making us proud!
