School is back for St. Clair and so is football

Hello, Readers! I’m back with this week’s edition of “What’s Up in Odenville.”
The big news this week is back to school. School bells are ringing, kids are moaning and parents are celebrating. While I’m celebrating because mine won’t have the opportunity to eat us out of house and home, the cost of back to school has me cringing (Actually is has me needing to take out a second mortgage.) I have a Senior this year along with a Sophomore, and my pocketbook is feeling the strain. Goodness these people are expensive! I would put the Senior up for the highest bid but she is so surly and grouchy whoever got her would bring her back.
Let’s get to the news.Â
School bus drivers are pleading for everyone remember to watch for stopped school buses. If you see flashing lights on the bus – STOP. The fine is steep for passing a school bus stop sign, so don’t do it! Also remember how traffic flows at the schools and that the road between the middle and elementary school is for BUSES ONLY! Parents are to drop off in front of the Elementary or between the Middle and Intermediate schools. Our children are our future and so we must remember to slow down, stop and please be patient.
The OPD was honored at the Odenville Area Business Association on Monday with a plaque and each officer was given a memento in appreciation for all they do to keep our community safe. Chief Adam Pardue said “The outpouring of support we have received over the last month or so has been overwhelming. Every day folks are stopping by to bring food, treats or just to thank us. We appreciate all the love and support that has been shown.” We love our OPD!!
With back to school there is also football! There will be an inter-squad game this Friday at 6 p.m. at the high school field with free admission. The first regular season game is Friday, August 26, at home vs. Lincoln.
OYAA have their jamboree football games Saturday August 27th at Clay.
OYAA fall ball registration is this Saturday August 13 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the field house. This is the final opportunity to sign up, so don’t miss out!
That’s all for this week! Send your Odenville News to OdenvilleNews@gmail.com.
