Supporting Moody’s annual Toys for Kids campaign

For about 30 years, Moody Fire Department has harnessed the Christmas Spirit in the community and used it to provide for needy families. Its annual Toys for Kids campaign has become a staple of holiday giving in the city.

On Friday, Dec. 4, the City hosted its annual fundraiser luncheon to support Toys for Kids. Key members of the community, including Mayor Joe Lee and members of the City Council served as waiters, and the tips and donations from the event went directly to the campaign. The event also featured door prizes and auction items.

“This community really comes out to support this endeavor,” Fire Chief Joe Nobles said. “We, and the families that we help serve, are always grateful to be a part of this City during this campaign.”

Toys for Kids supports children from birth to 12 years old, and Nobles said children with special needs older than 12 are taken into consideration as well. Only Moody residents are considered, and families that participate are rotated every year on a three-year cycle.

The Department partners with community organizations for the drive including Shepherd’s Supply and Leeds Outreach. Funds are raised all year through events that focus on the campaign. For more, contact the City of Moody at (205) 640-0302.
