The Pell City Center for Education And Performing Arts (CEPA) kicks off its “CEPA Cinema Classic Movie Series” with one of the great films of all times. “To Kill A Mocking Bird” will be shown on Sunday, Nov. 29. There will be two showings of this incredible film at 2 p.m. and at 5 p.m.

Set during the depression era in the 1930’s, the film followings the lives of Jean Louise “Scout” Finch and her brother Jeremy Atticus “Jem” Finch. They begin as innocent children, who spend their days happily playing games with each other and spying on their mysterious neighbor who has not been seen for many years. Their father, “Atticus” played by Gregory Peck, is a town lawyer, a man who believes all men are to be treated fairly regardless of their social or racial status. Through watching their father’s work, and life around them, Scout and Jem mature quickly as they are exposed to the poverty, racism and evil in their town.

In 1995, “To Kill a Mockingbird” was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.”

Tickets are available at the door and just $4 per person all ages. For more, call the CEPA box office at (205) 338-1974. CEPA is located at 125 Williamson Drive in Pell City.
