- Mayor David Lee presents a contribution of $1,000 to Heather Jones for the team’s travel expenses for the upcoming World Series in Mississippi.
During the regular July 20 meeting of the Leeds City Council, Mayor David Miller presented a $1,000 check to the Leeds Youth Baseball 12U Boys team to help fund its trip its next week to the Dizzy Dean World Series in South Haven, Miss.
This year, the team claimed the titles of Dizzy Dean District 1 Champion, Area 3 Champion and third place in State competition.

“We are asking for any donations,” Jones said.” Money, cases of water, snacks and fast food gift cards are all helpful and will be divided evenly amongst the 13 players.”
The team set up a website for online donations at gofundme.com/Leeds12U. As of July 24, it had raised $1,850 of its $8,000 goal.
