Pell City and St. Clair County consumers have been asked to help decide if the best ribeye steak in Alabama is served at a local restaurant.

The quest for the best steak, sponsored by the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association, began Tuesday at www.alabamasbeststeak.com, where diners can nominate the restaurant that serves their favorite ribeye steak.  The deadline for nominations is August 1.

The winning restaurant will be announced in early October, which has been designated by the ACA as Beef Month in Alabama.  A Montgomery-based non-profit, the ACA seeks to improve the business climate of the state’s beef cattle industry, promote a positive image while educating consumers that “beef is a safe, wholesome, nutritious and convenient food product.”

Following the nomination process, a total of 16 restaurants, based on online votes, will be chosen to start the “Sizzling 16” bracket challenge to find the top four steak restaurants in Alabama.  Once the “Fiery 4” restaurants have been determined through the online voting, a team of anonymous judges will visit each restaurant to sample its ribeye.  Steaks will be judged based on overall taste, tenderness and juiciness.

A beef steak sliced from the rib section, the ribeye is one of the most popular cuts of meat due to its flavor, tenderness, and marbling, which makes it good for slow roasting and grilling.
