Leaders emerge at Leeder Pageant

- Jimeria Williams named Miss Leeder at the Leeds High School 2014 Leeder pageant.
Contestants put their best foot forward in the competition to earn the right of being called Mr. & Miss Leeder.
Five fierce freshman gals smiled and donned their best formal attire as they vied for the chance to be named Miss 9th Grade.
Smart and accomplished Holly Hoover started the evening off.
Miss Leeds Caitlin Brunell served as the Master of Ceremonies and as contestants took the stage Caitlin shared some interesting facts about them.
Holly Hoover enjoys reading while Olivia Clinkscales also likes reading she also swims and is a Leeds High School (LHS) cheerleader. But her biggest hobby is shopping.
Catherine Moore plays four instruments and is a Key Club member as well as in Family, Career & Community Leaders of America (FCCLA).
Allison Beason is a cheerleader, on the A Honor Roll and in the Student Government Association (SGA).
Kaci Moses is proud to be a member of the Pride of the Greenwave Marching Band. She also enjoys math and science and plays softball.
Sydney St. John stepped things off for the sophomores.
Caitlin told the crowd that Sydney is in FCCLA, a member of Quill & Scroll and a Diamond Doll.
Courtney Purkey draws strength from one of her favorite people, her Nana, because she is a strong woman and a breast cancer survivor. Courtney plans on attending the University of Alabama where she’ll major in broadcast journalism.
Daryl Marie Barkley is on the Praise Dance Team at church and placed second at State in the 4×100 for the LHS track team.
Elizabeth McDanal is athletically inclined as well and plays both softball and volleyball at LHS.
Kalei Whitson is a big Alabama fan and loved cheering at Bryant Denny Stadium in December at the 3A State Championship game.
The juniors were up next and the first contestant to shine was Ali Chambers.
Ali is a member of the LHS National Honor Society, an ambassador, on the LHS archery team and enjoys acting.
Elise Turner loves to hangout with her extended family and play board games like Apples to Apples.
Molly O’Barr is a member of SGA, National Honor Society, Quill & Scroll and Heritage Panel. She likes being involved and trying new things.
Missy Thompson has immersed herself in one of her favorite subjects—being a part of the theatre department.
Eight lovely ladies from the senior class were next to take the stage in hopes of securing the title of Miss Leeder.
Wearing blue beautifully Marisa Falletta stepped on the stage.
Marisa has a 4.1 G.P.A. is captain of the cheerleaders and wants to be a neonatal nurse.
Sydney Darabaris sparkled in a silver sequin dress. After graduation Sydney plans to attend Montevallo and major in business marketing. She was voted a Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) All American at cheer camp, is captain of the varsity cheerleaders and a Diamond Doll.
Shea Callaway is a member of the National Honor Society, Quill & Scroll, National Technical Honor Society and loves her dog, a Boxer named Bo.
Shea will continue her studies in the fall at Troy University where she will major in nursing.
Maya Everett is second in her class, is attending Howard University in the fall where she plans on double majoring in broadcast and fashion merchandising.
Monica Simpson made her dress from repurposed items she purchased at the Lovelady Thrift Store.
Jimeria Williams has a 4.2 G.P.A. and has received full tuition, room and board to Tuskegee University, Florida A&M University and Kentucky State.
She plans on attending Spelman College where she will double major in Economics and English and minor is Chinese. Her first career choice is to be an international economic analyst for the CIA’s Directorate.
Rachel Stoves would love to one day run and own her own dance studio along with be a veterinarian.
Emily Claire Goodwin is involved in Heritage Panel, FCCLA, enjoys helping others and making people laugh.
Next the audience was in for some real entertainment as the guys from the class of 2014 smiled, danced and charmed their way to claim the title of—Mr. Leeder.
Russell Alicea kicked things off. Russell is the “tech gopher” for Angela Walker, LHS’s head of the Career Technical Education Department. He was also inducted into the first class of the National Technical Honor Society this year.
During the competition he surprised Monica Simpson by asking her to the prom. She happily agreed.
T.J. Piazza refers to himself as the Italian Stallion.
Donning his hot pink vest and bow tie Piazza kissed each judges hand as an extra pinch of panache in hopes to persuade them.
Aaron Brown is on the golf team and wants to be a history teacher when he grows up. He hoped blowing kisses to the judges would help him clench the title of Mr. Leeder.
Evan Kennedy, also known as Greenie, worked the crowd with his moves as he made his way through his choreographed dance to Justin Timberlake’s “Suit and Tie.”
Jared Hudson plans on attending Auburn University in the fall where he will study civil engineering. Implemented by Jared in 2013, November 2nd is known at LHS as “Sweater Day.”
Before the winners were announced Miss Leeds Outstanding Teen Mary Grace Long performed a dance routine in order to give proper time to tally the scores.
Miss Congeniality for the freshmen class went to Kaci Moses while Miss Photogenic was Allison Beason.
Favorite freshmen went to Holly Hoover, Olivia Clinkscales, Catherine Moore and Kaci Moses.
Allison Beason was named Miss 9th Grade.
The sophomore’s Miss Congeniality was Kalei Whitson while Miss Photogenic went to Sydney St. John.
Sophomore favorites were Daryl Marie Barkley, Elizabeth McDanal, Kalei Whitson and Sydney St. John.
Courtney Purkey claimed the title of Miss 10th Grade.
For the juniors Miss Congeniality and Photogenic went to Elise Turner.
Junior favorites were Ali Chamber, Molly O’Barr and Missy Thompson.
Elise Turner was named Miss 11th Grade.
At the senior level Emily Claire Goodwin was named Miss Congeniality while Miss Photogenic went to Maya Everett.
Senior favorites went to Marisa Falletta, Sydney Darabaris, Shea Callaway, Monica Simpson, Rachel Stoves and Emily Claire Goodwin.
Miss 12th Grade went to Maya Everett and Jimeria Williams now has the honor of being crowned Miss Leeder.
The entertaining fellows of the senior class claimed T.J. Piazza as Mr. Congeniality while Aaron Brown was named Mr. Photogenic.
Senior favorites for the guys were Russell Alicea, T.J. Piazza and Aaron Brown.
Mr. 12th Grade went to Greenie himself—Evan Kennedy and Jared “Sweater Day” Hudson is now Mr. Leeder.
