Ladybugs are said to symbolize luck and love, and that’s exactly what the Leeds/Moody organization—LadyBUGS stands for in itscommunities.
Meaning ladies believing, understanding, guiding and serving, LadyBUGS exists to provide scholarships for Leeds and Moody high school senior girls.
Recently voting to reward their scholarship recipients with $1,000 each instead of $500, LadyBUGS relies solely on fundraiser efforts and the support of the community to award these girls with one of the best gifts they can give themselves—an education.
Calling on an out-of-area group of judges to interview the scholarship applicants, these young ladies are evaluated on a point scale where financial need, community involvement, ACT, college preparation and attendance are taken into consideration.
The intent of this process is to make it possible for all interested parties to be a candidate for the LadyBUGS scholarship.
Incorporating more fundraising opportunities in 2014, the members of LadyBUGS are looking forward to their Meet & Greet event on Tuesday, February 18th at 7 p.m. at The Livery across from the Leeds Depot.
Running with the idea that LadyBUGS member Alesia Marshall suggested, this group is looking to expand its membership by inviting new women who are looking to better their communities to be a part of LadyBUGS.
On a mission “to bring strength and vitality to the Leeds & Moody community,” the lovely ladies in LadyBUGS will also host their annual fashion show Tuesday, April 8th at 11:45 a.m. at Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Leeds.
Tickets are $20, which includes a tasty lunch and a chance to win a door prize.
Excited to invite women who want to better their communities by investing in education, the gals in the LadyBUGS gang encourage interested individuals to come out to the meet and greet for more information on all that this local organization does for its citizens.
Eager to pay it forward by giving four deserving girls the gift of knowledge, the women who make up the membership of this group look forward to spreading the word about the ladies who are believing, understanding, guiding and serving in the Leeds/Moody area.
