St. Clair County elected officials pose with Chairman of the Alabama Republican Party Bill Armistead.

With the election less than two weeks away a win was at the forefront of the discussion at last Thursday’s St. Clair County Republican Party meeting.

Urging that the Republicans not only need to secure the presidency, Chairman of the Alabama Republican Party Bill Armistead let meeting attendees know there are two important statewide candidates.

“Twinkle Andress Cavanaugh is seeking election for president of the Alabama Public Service Commission against Lucy Baxley and Roy Moore for Chief Justice,” said Armistead. “We need all Republicans statewide—it’s so important.”

Emphasizing the urgency of getting everyone out to vote, Armistead encouraged his fellow Republicans to go out and work hard to get people to the poles.

“We’re really concentrating on local tickets,” said Armistead. “On a county level we’re really doing our job. This is the year we have a chance to really make a difference.”

Striving the point that Republicans passionately want President Obama out, Armistead invited interested parties to join the efforts of the Alabama Battleground Patriots who are visiting Florida and Ohio to encourage undecided voters to vote Governor Mitt Romney for President.

“No president has been elected without taking Ohio,” Armistead said. “This election may come down to 537 votes like Bush and Gore did. We can really make a difference.”

Congressman Mike Rogers representing Alabama’s third district was excited to be in St. Clair County.

Echoing Armistead’s sentiments about the efforts of the Alabama Battleground Patriots, Rogers urged individuals to get involved.

“We need to go into this election in a wayward state and remind them that it’s pretty scary what can happen if Barack Obama gets re-elected.”

Driving home his point, Rogers said, “The good news is we are going to kick butt in November.”

The next St. Clair County Republican Party meeting is scheduled for January 2013.
